OBITUARIES Nelson J. Roy, 85, of Chester Vermont, formerly of New Britain, died Thursday in Vermont. Born in Van Buren, Maine, he lived forty four years in New Britain, moving to Vermont two years ago. He was the widower of Madeline (LaPerle) Roy, who died July 16, 2003. He had worked over twenty two years at New Britain Machine Co., retiring in 1985; and was a member of St. Peter Church. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1941 to 1942. He then served with the 89th Division 341st Field Artillery, Battery C, U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. Mr. Roy is survived by three children Robert and his wife Ruth Roy of Dripping Springs, Texas, Susan and her husband Jerry Jurado of Chester, VT, and Donald and his wife Christine Roy of Union, CT; eight grandchildren Bryant, Chelsea, Alex, Adam, Ricky, Destiny, Bonnie, Kailey and Marren a great grand children Adrienne, Shawn, and Benjamin, a brother Wilfred Roy of Maine, Stella Rossiter of Coventry, Blanche Walden and Rachel Roy, both of Maine and several nieces and nephews Funeral services will be held on Monday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave. P.O. Box 1004 Meriden, CT 06450.
