Leonide Collin, 87, of New Britain, died Thursday Night at an area convalescent home. Born in Canada, he lived most of his life in New Britain and was employed for thirty nine years at Stanley Works. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army, a parishioner of St. Peter Church, a member of St. Jean the Baptist Society, the French Model Club and was well known as an avid fisherman and bowler. Leonide is survived by his wife Aldea Desjardins Gurnick Collin, a son and daughter in law Roland and Joanne Collin of Forestville, two daughters Janet Greco of New Britain and Elayna Collin of Pembroke, MA, six grandchildren, Robert, Bryan, Gregory and Timothy Collin and Kevin and Lea Greco, three great grandchildren Daniel, Jodi and Emily; two brothers Fernand Collin of Plainville and Bertrand Collin of Newington; stepchildren, Bernice Rivard of Bristol, Pete Desjardins of Wells, ME, Jacques Desjardins of Pelham, NH, Marie-Reine Parent of N.B., Canada, Colette Akerley of Wells, ME, Martha Buragas of Apollo Beach, FL, Martine Desjardins of Bristol, Marie-Therese Ouellette of Bristol and Jude Desjardins of Farmington; seventeen step grandchildren, twenty-five step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Rolande (Soucy) Collin. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M at St. Peter Church, 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral Home. With special thanks to Martine, Marie-Therese and Colette for showing such love, care and compassion to our dad.
