Agnes Halloran died in Vermont on Monday Aug. 20, 2007. Agnes was born in New Britain, CT in 1923 and lived in New Britain for most of her life. She moved to Farmington five years ago and to Vermont in December of 2006. She was the daughter of Joseph M. Halloran, Sr., former mayor of New Britain, CT state legislator and Postmaster General, and Irene Curtain Halloran, a schoolteacher. Her brother, Joseph M. Halloran, Jr. of North Haven, CT predeceased her. Agnes attended University of Mary Washington and Katherine Gibbs School after graduation from New Britain High School. She started her career with Pratt and Whitney in 1943 and continued at United Technologies for 44 years, where her last position was assistant to the treasurer. She was devoted to family and is survived by four nieces and nephews: Patricia Halloran of Marshfield, VT, Joseph Halloran, III of Raleigh, NC., Jude Halloran of Ann Arbor, MI and David Halloran of East Sound, WA., four great neices and nephews and one double great nephew, as well as many cousins with whom she enjoyed family gatherings. All will miss her kindness, quick wittedness and unwavering strength. Agnes was an honorary member of the Hospital for Special Care Auxiliary Board. She loved to travel but her favorite vacations were spent every August until her later years at Point of Woods in South Lyme, CT. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Maurice Church, Monday Aug. 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in New Britain. Visitation will be on Monday Morning from 9:00 AM. until time of service at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Maurice Church, 100 Wightman Road, New Britain, CT 06052-1597 or to Catholic Relief Services, PO Box 17090, Baltimore, MD 21203-7090.
