Fifield, Leonard Victor Fifield, 89, of New Britain, beloved husband for 70 years of Rita (Pellerin) Fifield, passed from this life Saturday August 11, 2007 at the Farmington Care Health Center after a long illness. Born in Laconia, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Charles and Alfredia Fifield. He moved to Connecticut in the early 1950's. A World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the DAV and American Legion, he ended his working career at Fenn Manufacturing after working for over 25 years, retiring in 1980. He was the president of the local union. He loved the Red Sox and playing cards with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and gardening for most of his life, he loved to travel, enjoyed restaurants and he loved living in Hallandale, Florida. He was predeceased by his eldest son Leonard George Fifield. In addition to his wife Rita, he leaves behind his son Wayne Fifield of Oregon and his daughter Phyllis Hary and her husband George with whom he lived with until becoming ill. He also leaves his oldest sons wife Ann Fifield of Wallingford. He leaves behind his grandchildren who he loved and enjoyed very much. They are Jennie Scott and her husband David, Scott Fifield, Wendy LaPorta and her husband David, Michael and David Hary, D.J and Marge Leighton and Lori and her husband Russ Warner. He leaves his great grandchildren who always put a smile on his face. They are: David, Danielle, Daniel, Destiny, and Desiree Scott, Shawna Fifield, Kelsey and Megan Leighton, Erin Spader and Connor and Alana LaPorta. He leaves behind his sister Frances Wheaton of Woburn Massachusetts and he was predeceased by his other brothers and one sister. He leaves many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, 11:00 A.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday Morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations made be made to American Heart Association, 2550 US highway 1 North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
