OBITUARIES Mary (Dowd) Williams, 84, of Plainville, surrounded by her family, has given up her fight, recently, and joined her late husband, Robert C. Williams. Mary, formerly of New Britain, was born in Waterbury to the late Catherine (McCarthy) and James Dowd. She married and settled in New Britain. She raised seven children, of which she was very proud. Mary was a wonderful and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She had a passion for cooking and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and her children's friends who were always welcomed to join them for home cooked meals. She was also known as an avid seamstress and loved to read. She attended Post Junior College after graduating from Crosby High School in Waterbury. She met Bob before the war and they married in 1946. She dedicated her life to her family and her church, St. Jerome Church. She was a charter member of St. Jerome Church, where she was very active for years. She was involved with the Women's Auxillary of the Post Office and many P.T.O's. Mrs. Williams leaves seven children and their spouses Pam and Tom Woodward of Enfield, Jim and Sharon Williams of New Britain, Randy Williams of Plainville, Richard and Debbie Williams of Plymouth, CT, Brian and Gloria Williams of LaPorte, CO, Cathi Williams of Plainville and Nancy Gavin of Bristol, twelve grandchildren Daren and his wife Pamela Woodward, Douglas Woodward, Erick, Sarah, and Patrick Williams, Todd and Brett Williams, Troy, Brian and Erika KarwowskI, Bridget and Allison Gavin; a great grand daughter Wren Woodward; a sister and brother in law Larry and Irene Palomba, a sister in law Dolores Dowd and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother in law Charles R. Dowd. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Brittany Farms Health Care and to the Guardian Angels Home Care Agency for making Mary's final days as comfortable as possible. A very special thank you to Mary's care giver Grace Quist for her love and care. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Jerome Church Slater Road New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
