COP: Joseph J. Cop, 86, of Berlin, husband of Helen (Urbanski) Cop, died Monday Feb. 19th, 2007. Born in Cromwell, Joe was a lifelong resident of New Britain and recently moved to Berlin. He was educated in the New Britain schools, graduated from E.C. Goodwin and then attended New York School of Mechanical Dentistry. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and a retired engineer from Pratt & Whitney. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Daniel Lyons of Berlin, two grandchildren, Melissa and her husband Kenneth Hurd of Berlin, and Daniel and his wife Lori Lyons of Newington, 5 great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Nathaniel, Ethan, Abigail, and Michaela, his brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Elizabeth Cop, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Antoni and Maryanna Cop, and 2 sisters, Mary Bartlewski and Helen Skrzypek. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:15 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, going to Sacred Heart Church, 66 Cottage Street, East Berlin, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Family and friends are invited to visit at the funeral home, Thursday beginning at 9:30 A.M.
