Erhart, Cyril L. Cyril Erhart, 88, formerly of Buena Vista Avenue, New Britain, died peacefully Tuesday morning (September 5, 2006 at Bel Air Manor Convalescent Home, Newington, CT.
He was the son of the late Mary (Begos) and Lawrence John Erhart. He was born May 25, 1918 and graduated from New Britain High School and the Goodwin Tech High School in New Britain . He served in the Army during World War II in Europe as a Staff Sergeant. He was honorably discharged as in 1945 after receiving the Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medals.
He began a career as a typeset printer. He was an employee for the City of New Britain working in several schools including Nathan Hale, Burritt and Smith School. He married Doris (Feroleto) in 1953 and raised one son in New Britain. He was a long time Usher and active member of St. Francis of Assisi and a communicant of All Saints Church and St Ann�s Church in New Britain.. He was an automobile enthusiast and enjoyed boating and fishing. Following his retirement from the city of New Britain, he worked in Security for several years. He is survived by his son, Lawrence C. Erhart of Gales Ferry, CT, He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daniel and Laura Erhart of Gales Ferry, He also leaves his sister Gertrude Erhart of Newington, and several relatives throughout CT.
His family will have calling hours at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT, Saturday morning September 9th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM with a short prayer service at 9:30 AM. Following they will proceed to St. Mary�s Cemetery, New Britain for graveside services with Military Honors and interment. The family suggests flowers or contributions to be made to the Lance Armstrong Livestrong Challenge under Cyril�s grandson�s name Jeffrey Erhart who will be riding in Philadelphia September 10 to raise money for cancer research or to the American Cancer Society.
