OBITUARIES Stephen J. Gerent, 58, of Berlin, passed away Tuesday at home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Stephen A. and Mary (Czarny) Gerent, he lived most of his life in New Britain and Berlin. He was employed as a production manager at the Carling Switch Co. in Plainville for twenty five years. After retiring, he then worked part time for the Bruckner Co. in Middletown. Stephen served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was an MG enthusiast who enjoyed going to car shows. He also enjoyed traveling throughout New England, especially Cape Cod and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Stephen is survived by his wife Catherine, his daughter Cara Gerent of New Britain, his son Mark Gerent of Kansas City, Kansas, two brothers in law John Andrasik of Marlborough, Stephen and his wife Barbara Andrasik of Nags Head, North Carolina, two sisters in law Patricia and her husband James Lewis of Marlborough and Deborah Kosker of Windsor; his mother and father in law Joseph and Frances Andrasik of Rocky Hill, and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Wake will be held Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Central CT, 205 West Main St. New Britain, CT 06052.
