Obituary of Edith R. Brochu

On January 29, 2012, Edith R. Brochu, 93, passed away at the Jerome Home. Edith was born in St. Gervais, Canada on March 18, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Hormidas and Adelina Brochu. As a child, she lived in Lawrence, MA for four years and attended school there. She returned to Canada, left in 1943 and moved to Meriden, CT. She was employed by New Departure in Meriden and Bristol for 30 years. Edith retired in 1974. She moved to New Britain in 1985 to be closer to her extended family. Edith was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church. She leaves her nephews Aime Brochu of Kensington and The Villages, FL, Fernand Brochu of East Berlin, Richard Brochu of Kensington, Norman Brochu of New Britain and nieces Pauline Buinickas of New Britain, Irene Stepensky of Kensington, and Shirley Ziolkowski of Plantsville. Besides her parents, Edith was predeceased by her brothers Alfred, Adelard, Emile and sisters Yvonne Brochu and Ida Gosselin.
Funeral services will be held Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A. M. at St. Joseph's Church 195 So. Main St. New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday from 8:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Edith's family would like to thank the staff at the Jerome Home for the care given her during her stay.
