Obituary of Martin J. French

OBITUARIES Martin J. French, Jr., 78, of New Britain, died Monday at home. Born in Willimantic, he lived most of his life in New Britain and was a New Britain Firefighter for thirty four years retiring in 1986. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. Marty was a well known avid UCONN Basketball fan who truly enjoyed watching the girls basketball games and visiting the casinos. Martin was the beloved husband of Eleanor (Andruss) French and was a loving and caring father and grandfather to his daughter Gayle and her husband Thomas West, his son Martin French III all of New Britain and his grandchildren Justin West and Ryan West. He is also survived by three sisters Annette French of New Britain, June Norton of Kensington, and Blanche Boughton of Bristol, two brothers Earl French of Branford and Kenneth French of New Britain and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother William French. Funeral services will be held Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. John the Evangelist Church (corner of Newington Ave. and East St.) burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
