OBITUARIES Thomas (Glen) Holleran, 81, formerly of New Britain, died Tuesday in Marietta Georgia. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Richard and Irene (Glynn) Holleran, he lived most of his life in New Britain, moving to Georgia about a year ago. He was the husband of the late Rolande "Ronnie (LaFlamme) Holleran Tom Holleran was an original member of the volunteer New Britain Police Auxiliary joining in 1968 when the auxiliary was recognized under the late Lt. John G. Brophy of the New Britain Police Department. At that time auxiliaries received special training and were granted the power of arrest and carried weapons. Their function was to augment regular police. He was also instrumental in organizing the rescue unit of the auxiliary. He operated Toms Shell Station on Stanley St. for many years. Because of the many services he provided to the police department free of charge, rarely was there a time when both on and off duty police officers could not be seen at the station. For that reason, his station was referred to as the unofficial "First Precinct of the NBPD. Tom supervised the Auxiliary Rescue Squad when it assisted New Britain and State Police in recovering evidence at the scene of the Donna Lee Bakery where six people were murdered in a robbery. He also participated in numerous accident extractions and assisted police in several investigations of serious incidents and crimes. He had also worked for Landers, Frary and Clark in New Britain and retired from the State of Connecticut. Mr. Holleran is survived by his daughter Carol Drobinski of Marietta, GA, three grandchildren Laura and her husband Matt Ashley of Homestead, FL, Michael Drobinski of Los Angeles, CA and Beth Drobinski of Marietta, GA, His sister Lenore House of New York, several nieces and nephews and close friends Liz and Joe Crowley of New Britain.
