OBITUARIES Robert F. Mautner,Jr., 91, of New Britain, died Tuesday. Born in New Britain and a life long resident and was the husband of the late Frances (Potetz) Mautner. He was the owner of the R.F. Mautner Co., a beer distributor for many years. In his youth, Bob was a well known and respected athlete excelling in both Basketball and football. While at Holy Cross College, he was Captain of the football team. After graduation, Bob taught and coached at Cheshire Academy. In 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was commissioned lieutenant-commander and flew catapult planes off the USS Augusta flagship of the Atlantic fleet. He was senior aviator for the invasion of North Africa and served as an aid to the admirals and generals in that campaign. Bob was a member of the St. Peter�s Church, the St. Peter�s Society, the B.P.O.Elks 957, the Donou Society and was very active in the Holy Cross Alumni. Bob is survived by three sons Robert and his wife Jill Mautner of St. Augustine, FL, Thomas and his wife Raeleen Mautner of No. Haven, and William Mautner of Richmond, CA, five grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Today from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
