OBITUIARIES Carl L. Tortorige, 80,of New Britain, died Wednesday at an area convalescent home. Born in New Britain and a life long resident, he had been employed for many years at the Sherman Tomasso Co. retiring in early 1980�s. Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, earning two distinguished Purple Hearts for the wounds he received in action on Guadalcanal Dec. 1, 1942. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Stanley Golf Club, the Teamsters Union, the VFW and the B.P.O. Elks. Carl is survived by two sons Richard Tortorigi of Madison, Carl (Butch) Tortorigi of Quincy Illinois; two granddaughters Mallori and Brooke Tortorigi, a grandson Scott and his wife Tracie Makula; two great granddaughters Melanie and Sara Makula, a sister Catherine Tortorigi and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother James Loicano and a sister Mary Ramy. Funeral services will be held Saturday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph�s Church 195 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
