Laverne Ann Rossberg Laverne Ann Rossberg a long-time resident of New Britain, Connecticut and more recent resident of Southington, CT peacefully departed loved ones on Monday, November 22, 2004. Laverne was 92 and the mother of Francis Anthony Manning, husband of Sandra Whitman Manning, of Southington, CT and Justine Ann Manning Quinn, wife of Gerald Foye Quinn, Wilton, CT. Laverne was born on March 11, 1912 in New Britain. She was the daughter of all Irish parents Ann Agnes Hanrahan and James William Kindelan. Laverne married Francis Robert Manning and raised two children in New Britain, CT. A graduate of New Britain High School Laverne worked for Tuttle & Bailey for over 25 years. She was a chartered member of the St. Maurice Parish. She was a devout Catholic and active in her church. She volunteered at various institutions such as the local library, the hospital, and teaching children to read in the local school system. Of notable mention, she went to Washington as a delegate for AARP where she was awarded honors for her contribution to society. Many years after the death of her first husband, Laverne was blessed to have met a high school friend, Donald Rossberg, whom she later married. Laverne loved to travel and often did so with her husband Donald and her best friend and sister, Marion Rose Kindelan. Laverne always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. She will be remembered for her sharp wit and good humor. Above and beyond all else Laverne will be remembered by her two surviving children, 8 grandchildren: Susan, Gerald, Tracy, Terence, Katy, Brian, Megan, & Kara; and 13 great-grandchildren as being a loving, kind, patient and always caring individual. All of us feel blessed to have known her and our lives bettered to have shared them with her. The entire family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff at The Southington Care Center. Because of the loving care and devotion they extended to our mother, and grandmother, Laverne was able to live her last moments with dignity and grace. Funeral services will be held Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Southington Care Center 45 Meriden Ave. Southington, CT 06489. The Farrell Funeral Home Franklin Sq. New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
