Obituary of Diane J. Liss

Diane J. (Benoit) Liss, 81, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer Tuesday (June 24,2014). Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late Norman and Mabel (Johnson) Benoit, she was a life long New Britain resident. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph F. Liss. A graduate of New Britain High School, she retired from the Walter J. Liss Insurance Agency. A member of St. Jerome Church, she enjoyed traveling and going out to dinner with her family. She also enjoyed the casino, her grandson's baseball games, loved her cats, and her desserts. She looked forward to being with her friends at McDonalds, the New Britain Senior Center, and Hospital For Special Care. Mrs. Liss is survived by her children, daughter, Debra Spring and Frank Rutkowski of Berlin, daughter, Jacqueline Panetta and her husband Robert A. Panetta of Kensington; son Mark Liss and his wife Jeanne Liss of Enfield; grandchildren Joseph Spring, Daniel and his wife Ashley Spring, Douglas and his wife Lindsay Spring, Jeffrey Spring, Eric and his wife Shannon Panetta, Neil and his wife Kylee Panetta, and Laura Liss; her great grandchildren Andrew Spring, Jayce Panetta and Olivia Spring and a special friend Sebby Liburdi. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 11:00 AM at St. Jerome Church 1010 Slater road New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. The Liss family would like to extend a special thank you to the Vitas staff and Diana Arjune, for the special care they provided to their mother.
