Gilbert B. Picard, 84, of Windsor Locks, died Monday (June 23, 2014) at the Bickford Healthcare Center in Windsor Locks. Born in St. Jacques, New Brunswick, Canada, he came to the Greater Hartford area in 1964. He lived in New Britain for a period of time and had been employed as an Apartment Building Superintendent. Gilbert enjoyed taking care of his home and doing yard work with his beloved dog, Nemo by his side. He was married to the late Ann (Patterson) Picard and the late Raymonde Picard. Mr. Picard is survived by a daughter Nilda Picard of Portland, ME, a brother Reggie Picard of Pulaski, Tenn; four grandchildren David and his wife Ginger Marquis, Kelly and her husband Philip Spencer, Ryan Hebert, and Jessica and her husband Mike Nolan; two great grandsons Aaron Marquis and Liam Spencer; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a step son Philip Guerrette, a step daughter Normande Fleming and a brother Wilfred Picard. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:00AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery Bloomfield. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Alberta his care giver, who allowed him to remain at home.
