Anna P. (Potetz) May, 95, of New Britain, died Sunday (May 18, 2014) at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in Neumarket, Burgenland, Austria, the daughter of the late Alois and Maria (Zotter) Potetz, she came to this country in 1936 and lived most of her life in New Britain. She had been the housekeeper at St. Maurice Rectory in New Britain for over 30 years; was a member of St. Peter Church, the Ladies Guild of St. Peter Church, the St. Agnes Guild and the New Britain Council of Catholic Women.
Mrs. May is survived by two sons Rev. Ronald P. May of Southington, Robert and his wife Kathy May of Florida; a sisiter Margaret Kropfl of Austria ; a granddaughter Susanne Vanderheydon; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by a grandson, Steven R. May, two brothers Louis Potetz and Frank Potetz and a sister Mary Wishenbart.
Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:00AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the McLean Home and Hospice 75 Great Pond Road Simsbury, CT 06070 or to St. Peter Church. The May family would like to especially thank the kindness of the staff at John Dempsey Hospital and the McLean Hospice Care.
