Lucia M. (Catanzaro) Smith passed into eternal bliss surrounded by her family on Friday December 13, 2013. Most of her life she was a homemaker taking care of her kids and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years Richard Smith, who died in January 2011. She will be dearly missed. She leaves her daughter Donna L. Smith, a son Richard D. Smith, her grandsons and their wives Adrian and Rosa Smith and Tyree and Julia Smith, two brothers Joseph and his wife Eleanor Catanzaro of New Britain and Sebastian and his wife Marilyn Catanzaro of Hebron, a sister Annie Alger of Plantsville; 8 great grandchildren, Jaylene Shelese, Adrian Yenitt, Brandon Maurice, Portia and Jarae Williams, Adrian, Alex and Heidi Montes; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Paul Catanzaro and a sister Nancy Catanzaro. She loved cooking and the holidays the most. She also loved the beach, dancing and singing. She made everyone laugh. Her favorite word to the family was Mangia, which was eat in Italian. She was very generous and giving. Funeral services will be Thursday at 12:00 noon at the Farrell funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society 701 Russell Road Newington, CT 06111.
