I had the honor and privilege to call Tom Higgins my friend. I will miss him greatly, and offer my sincerest condolences to his beautiful family. I worked closely with Tom on many veterans-centric projects, from New Britain's "Armistice @100" World War I Commemoration, to projects for House of Heroes Connecticut, to Wreaths Across America of New Britain and more. Working with and befriending Tom, one can't help but learn a great deal about honor, integrity, service and sacrifice. Quite simply, Tom defined the word Patriot. I further had the privilege to honor Tom last year, presenting him with DAV Chapter 8's Angelo Tomasso, Sr. and Angelo Tomasso, Jr. Veteran of Distinction Award at the 2023 Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open before hundreds of guests.
