Charlotte E. (Bylek) Potanka, 75, of Berlin, died Thursday September 12, 2024 with loved ones by her side. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late John and Edna (LaFlamme) Bylek, she lived most of her life in Berlin. She was the beloved wife of Alan Potanka, and they spent 50 years together before his death in April, 2020.

Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Catherine Kulowski (Donald Jr.) of Kensington and Alice Potanka of Hardwick, VT; her brothers Raymond (Maria) Bylek, Richard (Debbie) Bylek, and Timothy (Kathy) Chapman; sister Shelly (Jack) Bylek and grandchildren Kyle (Natalie), Ashley, Stefany, Donald III, and William III; great grandchildren Raelynn, Casey and Jordan. Charlotte leaves behind many loved ones including her in laws, Dave (Cindy) Potanka, Linda Potanka, Brenda (Vincenzo) Teodoro, Daniel (Tricia) Majewski, Karen Bylek and Carl Nelson. She was the most wonderful and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Family was important to her, and she was loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was predeceased by her sisters JoAnn Majewski and Amy Nelson, her brother John Bylek Jr., her nephew Erik Yeske and her brother-in-law Lawrence Potanka.

The family is incredibly grateful to Jerome Home and kindly asks for donations to be made to Jerome Home Recreation Department, 975 Corbin Ave. New Britain, CT 06052 in memory of Charlotte. The family would also like to thank Hartford Healthcare Hospice for their exceptional care. Please remember her with a smile and extend an act of kindness to one another.

Funeral Services for Charlotte will be held starting at 9:00AM on September 23, 2024, Farrell Funeral Home, followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 48 Cottage St. East Berlin, CT 06023. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be on September 22, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, CT 06051.
