Obituary of Rose Bennardo
Rose Bennardo, 96, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a short illness on August 25, 2024, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut. She was a lifelong resident of New Britain.
Rose’s life was a testament to the strength of family, the importance of faith and power of love. Her dedication to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, from the home cooked meals she lovingly prepared to the endless support and guidance she offered. She loved to cook, especially with her mother Mary and their specialty was homemade meatballs and sauce.
Rose worked for a short time at The Stanley Works in New Britain before devoting herself to being a stay-at-home mom dedicating her life to her family. She always looked forward to traditional holiday gatherings. At Christmas time she loved to bake her various types of Italian cookies and decorate her Christmas tree to the Max. She was an avid UConn Huskies basketball fan and never missed watching a game.
Rose’s legacy is one of love and compassion. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of being part of her life. Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mario Bennardo of 70 years, along with her father Anthony D’ Agata and her mother Mary D’ Agata, her brothers John D’ Agata, Tony D’ Agata, and Mike D’ Agata.
She is survived by her sister Ida Stefanou of Berlin, her brother Ernest D’ Agata and sister-in-law Phyllis D’ Agata of New Britain, and Ginger D’ Agata of Berlin. She leaves her 3 children son Joseph Bennardo of Berlin, daughter Diane Brodeur and her husband Raymond of East Hartford, and daughter Joanne and Michael Gagnon of Newington: 6 grandchildren, Walter, Krista, Kevin, Mark, Andrew, and Kayla, and 4 great grandchildren, Kailey, Brantley, Mason and Della.
Funeral services for Rose will be held Friday (Aug. 30, 2024) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Road New Britain. Entombment in St. Mary Cemetery will be private. Visitation will be Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
