Donald P. Geschimsky Obituary

Donald P. Geschimsky, 86, of Kensington, died Monday (Aug. 12, 2024) at the Hospital of Central CT. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Paul and Ida (Ketterer) Geschimsky, he lived in Berlin since 1965.


After serving in the US Air Force, Don became a State Police Officer with the State of Connecticut. He was on the Board of Directors of the State Police Credit Union, served on the Republican Town Committee and the Town Council, was past president of the Berlin Lions Club, where he spent numerous holidays serving meals for seniors, a member of the VFW, the B.P.O. Elks # 957, a member of St. Peter’s Society, the  Austrian Donau Club and was a member of the New Britain YMCA for over 50 years.  Don enjoyed spending summers at White Sand Beach in Old Lyme where he had been served as director of security.


Donald is survived by his wife , Frances (Gill) Geschimsky, three daughters, Donna and her husband David Loiselle, Diane and her husband Vernon Thompson and Kat Geschimsky, one son Donald P. Geschimsky, Jr.; four grandchildren, Allison, Jake and Kaitlyn, and Nate and his wife Amanda Cartwright.; a great granddaughter Raelynn.


Funeral services will be held Friday (Aug. 16, 2024) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church  485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Visitation will be Friday from 8:30 t0 9:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Berlin Senior Center 33Colonial Dr. Berlin, CT 06037.
