Obituary of William P. Tata
William P. Tata died August 2, 2024 at the Hebrew Center for Health and Rehabilitation in West Hartford after a long illness. He was 86 years old. He was born June 11, 1938, the son of SGT Rosario Tata of the New Britain Police Force and Ann Cacchillo Tata; he has a brother, Robert, who lives in Celebration, Florida; he also has many relatives living in Connecticut, Florida, Virginia, California, and Illinois.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Central Connecticut. He was educated at Vance Elementary School, Central Junior High School, and New Britain Senior High School. He was graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in Economics and later earned an M.A. degree from Central Connecticut State University.
He spent most of his working years in financial and retail businesses. He retired and moved to Rocky Hill, where he loved growing flowers and tomatoes around his suburban homestead. He was steadfast in sharing meals with local relatives and share stories about the "Olden Days".
Funeral services will be held Monday (Aug. 12, 2024) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 119 Franklin sq. New Britain.
Bill was a devout Roman Catholic and an active member of St. Paul's Church in Kensington. In place of flowers, family suggests you make a donation to St. Paul's Youth Ministry in Bill's Name.
