Richard J. Vigue Obituary

Richard Joseph Vigue, 80, of Southington, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Friday, (March 1, 2024), at the Southington Care Center after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born in Bristol, Connecticut to the late Leo and Mary Vigue. He was a devoted husband to his wife Sophie Vigue, and a loving father to his daughter Megan and son Matthew Vigue. He was also a caring stepfather to Kathy Jewell, her husband Patrick Jewell, and their two grandchildren, Lauren and Olivia Jewell of Atlanta, GA. 


 


Richard was a Navy veteran, serving our country from 1962-1965. He was an avid runner, completing over thirty marathons including seven Boston marathons. He was always involved in activities, from winning trophies in a bowling league, swimming laps at the Plainville YMCA, to playing basketball with friends at Norton Park. Richard was known for his patience and kindness, and his family would like to thank the staff at the Southington Care Center for treating him in the same way during his time there.


 


Funeral services will be celebrated Wednesday March 6th with a visitation from 8:30 – 10:00 am at from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, CT with a service at 10:30 AM at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Church, 303 Eddy Glover Blvd., New Britain.  Burial with Military Honors will follow at Connecticut State Veteran State, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. Panakhyda Service will be held at 9:30 AM.
