Obituary of Michele C. Harris

Michele (Cosgrove) Harris, 59, of Plainville, passed away peacefully at home on February 6th 2024. Born July 4, 1964, she was the youngest child of the late Thomas Cosgrove and Shirley (Fortin) Cosgrove. Michele earned her Masters of Education from Central Connecticut State University. She taught countless middle and high schoolers for decades. Caring for her students as learners and people was her true calling in life. 

Michele loved being by the ocean, particularly with her devoted partner Bob. She was a voracious reader, talented writer, and an incredibly witty and intelligent woman according to friends and family. She was a fiercely loving mother and went to the ends of the earth to provide for her only daughter, Kelly. When Michele learned that she was soon becoming a grandmother, her joy was endless and love infinite. 

Michele is survived by her daughter Kelly T. Harris and her husband Evan Gallena of Aurora, CO, her brother Thomas Cosgrove and his wife Cathy of Oak Island, NC, and her brother Timothy Cosgrove and his wife Marianne of Madison, CT. She cared deeply and loyally for many friends who became family to Michele and Kelly. 

Friends and family are invited to the gathering space of St. Patrick St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St, Hartford, CT on Thursday February 15 at 9:00am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church at 10:00am. Parking is available in the lot across from the church (entrance on Church Street). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the ASPCA, Foundation for Women’s Cancer, or Adopt a Classroom.
