He was one of my first friends when I moved into the neighborhood as a kid, he was always friendly no matter when I talked to him since I moved out of town as a kid.

It is with the heaviest of hearts I write about our dear family member Chris. It has taken me quite some time to even fathom that Chris is no longer with us and to try to find the words to describe such an incredible human being. Chris was such a shining light and a force. A force of love, unwavering family devotion and loads of fun. The void left in all our hearts is immense.
From the first day I met Chris with Kaitlyn, I knew, he was the man for her. His engaging personality, his calm sense of confidence, and his joy and excitement for fun and laughter shined through every day. Over the years, Chris became an especially important part of our family, the life of the party, at family picnics, weddings, and holidays. We played many games as a family on Thanksgiving and at weddings he was the first to the dance floor and the last to leave. Even with our loud, boisterous personalities in our family, Chris fit like a perfect sized glove. Kaitlyn, Taylor, and Paige (or Rampaige) as he nicknamed her, were the center of his world. Playing every game imaginable with the girls, making videos of them which we all loved watching and most memorable, dressing up as a butterfly for Taylor when she wanted him to be a butterfly that year for Halloween. And of course, he would have never said no to her. Taylor wanted Daddy to be a butterfly, so out Chris went to buy the manliest butterfly costume he could find. We look at pictures from that Halloween and say, “Dad of the Year”! His courage during his illness and his love for life that he fought so hard to keep is something that will never leave my mind. And my beautiful niece Kaitlyn, a pillar of strength for Chris, kept vigils by his side during all those days and nights in the hospital, managing every aspect of his care, talking to doctors, always planning next steps, all to get the love of her life well and home where he belonged. While caring for Chris, she continued to devote her energy, what little she may have left, to those two beautiful girls. Everyone experiences grief in their lives, but this man I believe took a piece of us with him. Our family will be different, with his shining light gone, but Chris being the force he was, I know, will always be there for Kaitlyn and his girls, watching over them, making sure their lives continue to be filled with so much love and joy. As it has been said before, “some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this.” Kaitlyn, you and Chris had many, many moments of loving, fun-filled memories. How lucky to have found love such as yours. His legacy is the love he had for “his girls.” A legacy of love, devotion, passion, fun, and kindness in every sense of the word. I have been struggling to find the words to describe a human being like Chris. It’s a common phrase “he was the salt of the earth.” It is a phrase to describe someone’s goodness, kindness, genuineness, humility, great worth and trustworthiness. That is truly Chris’s legacy, an exceptionally good person, and by no means was he common.
With everlasting love to you Kaitlyn and your girls,
“Odie”

Chris,
We are heartbroken that you are no longer with us. There are simply no words to quantify our grief. You were a constant source of serenity and peace during crazy Tabshey family gatherings. We will miss your warm smile and contagious laugh. We constantly replay videos of you dancing at our wedding, hoping you are still dancing today. We know you are watching over your girls, but we will do our best to care for them too.
Sending you all our love, until we meet again.
Love,
Kelly and Anthony Olivieri

To my son, Chris:
My heart is broken.
I am at a loss to understand or justify your passing. If I could have traded places with you, I would have done so unconditionally.
You were part of our lives for 41 wonderful years. Your Mom and I always hoped that we gave you the tools and guidance to make good decisions, learn from bad ones and mature into a wonderful Husband, Dad, and outstanding Brother. I know we succeeded.
From a young age you were independent and always smiling, even when you had your braces. Playing baseball, basketball in the driveway, jumping on the trampoline with friends, learning to snowboard or playing the saxophone at Middle School, all of which you enjoyed at the time, (well maybe not the saxophone). In High School your artistic and creative skills came to the forefront and you made the decision to pursue that curriculum at CCSU, where you excelled and were affectionally referred to as the "WEB GUY".
With your career on a strong path and your devoted female companion "Snickers" by your side, you met and eventually married your loving and caring wife Kaitlyn whom you adored. Coy as you were, when we finally had the opportunity to meet her, we fell in love also. As you remember it was sort of a moot point at that time as Snickers had already fallen in love with Kaitlyn, so that was settled.
You graced us with a wonderful wife, Kaitlyn, two beautiful grandchildren Taylor and Paige and an exceptional extended family. You and Kaitlyn created and raised a loving family unit, the envy of many, in your "Forever Home". Coming from a home of 3 males, 1 female, and 2 cats to a new dynamic with you being the lone male, one would wonder how that would go. Well, you embraced the new dynamic, as there was nothing better. If you recall, before you met Kaitlyn, I offered one piece of advice. I told you to make your next relationship decision with your heart. Find someone that you enjoy being with, is kind, compassionate, thinks of others and has a good heart. You really listened to me, and it makes me happy.
Being a "Girl Dad" to Taylor and Paige was not something you took for granted. You were "all in", enjoyed it and found it rewarding. You always bragged about their accomplishments as they happened. Whether changing diapers, bath time, dressing up for Halloween, entertaining the neighborhood girls or simply dancing with your girls in the living room or at some other gathering place, it was fun. It was a highlight for you each and every time and you could always see just how much they loved their Dad. They will miss you and the hope is that through the years, we and all your friends can fill in the gaps and remind them of how much you Loved them all and would have done anything for them.
Since you and Kaitlyn have been married, I knew then, and know even more now, that every single moment I spent together with you, your family and extended family was precious. Whether at a local tavern, movie, watching sports, birthday/family celebrations, hanging at Winding Trails, Lagassey Patio Night or just a family cookout, These Times Together I Will Miss!
It is with a heavy heart that I end this Tribute to you, but I want you to know….. As time passes and I grow even longer in the tooth, undoubtedly my memories may fade but your place in my heart will endure forever.
With Love,
Always your Dad.

I was a big Chris fan. He made you feel welcome immediately with his smile. He was an intent listener. And he shared his numerous adventures and travels with excitement, yet an overriding sense of modesty. It was so obvious how much he loved his wife and girls! I wish I had more time with you, my friend. In parting, I'll say this. When it comes to Chris, I'm reminded of the last words of the famous movie, Brian's Song, about the Chicago Bears' football player, Brian Piccolo, who left this world too early after a courageous battle with cancer:
When we think of you, it's not how you died that we will remember. It's how you lived. It's how you DID LIVE!

Chris,
There are no words to describe our heartache, but we will do our very best each and everyday to smile at the memories together! Drunken dances at weddings, loud BINGO games at Thanksgiving, charades that turned gassy, and holiday pool parties. Though we never got the chance to drop off all 3 kids for you to watch and have a sleepover with, as promised when I was pregnant with the twins, I will one day hold you to that when we are with each other again.
So here’s our promise to you…we promise to protect and take care of all 3 of your girls on a daily basis. We will do our very best to fill their lives with laughs, jokes, and even try to recreate some of your famous instagram videos. We will wrap them with hugs and love, so they never feel alone. We will share happy memories of our time spent with you, and make sure their daddy is always with them!
You spent your life showing the world what a true gem of a person you are, and we will spend ours sharing your legacy. We will love you and miss you forever and always! “When someone you love becomes a memory, that memory becomes a treasure.”
Love always,
Lindsay and Matt Campbell
