Dear Fred, Robert,Donald,Mary Jane and Roger, I am sorry that I was unable to attend the services. for your father. As I read the description of his remarkable life it became clear to me how it is that each of you is such a remarkable person in your own way. I am grateful for the years we shared at Aquinas.. Weep thankfully tears of sadness and laugh together at memories of a good life shared with you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Laurette Laramie

Dwayne and I would like to express our condolences to the Peterson family. I was so hoping to share one of those great ice cream sundaes with him next time I made it home. May the memories of happy times sustain you through the coming days without him.

To my Uncle Fred who matted and framed my poetry when I was only nine years old, who sat and listened and sang to me, who always left me with a kiss and a blessing, who told silly jokes and brilliant stories, who knew the importance of a good family photo, and who remains in my heart a true gentleman and a hero forever. I stopped rhyming a long time ago, but you always liked my rhymes. Here’s one last one for you.
A Traveler’s Song
To the sea I will leave good
wishes—
teal ships of dreams
moored in bottle homes.
To the earth I will leave wild gardens—
vines binding years
of blossoms to stone.
What can I leave
to the sky
but the soul?
A sunrise of gold
unfolding light—
a watercolor not yet dried,
but painted over night.

Uncle Fred I have so many wonderful memories… going to Captain Jack’s and having steamers… eating ice cream and of course pie…. Tuesday and Friday movies in Elwood or Berlin… long conversations around the round tables either at our house or yours… going to Berlin for dessert and football games on Thanksgiving… the long Peterson prayer… and who could forget our mishap at around the Res. I love you with all my heart and will forever cherish this real, loving, warm hugs when you folded me in your arms and wrapped me in your Uncle Fred sweaters! Thank you for all the lunches, dinners, and fireside chats. Memorial Day, Labor Day and any day won’t be the same without you! Love you forever and a day! Derge.❤️

I will certainly miss my sweet and dear father-in-law, Fred Peterson. He was a wonderful, loving, and dedicated Grandparent along with Irene to our children Meredith, Erick, and Martha. I will always remember when Fred III and I first moved to N.H., he helped us move in. As soon as he got home to Ct., he called to ask if we had enough blankets. “ I will drive right back up to N.H. with some if you need them.” That is the kind of person he was - totally dedicated to his wife, Irene and his entire family. We will miss your Viking songs, and I will miss your letters and cards. We will all miss your wonderful smile and warm personality and having a cup of coffee and jelly donut with you. Glad that you are now with your loving bride, Irene. Will love you always, Linda Peterson

What a loss but what a life. While I could come up with many memories of Mr. Peterson if I really gave it some thought, the one that resonates is the many times I'd see him at the house, at church with my Dad or out somewhere with Roger when he'd shake my hand and say, "My other son". I don't think he knew how much that meant to me.
You were all so lucky to have had him.
