Obituary of Donald M. Faraone

Donald M. Faraone, 78, of New Britain, died Sunday, June 18, 2023, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut surrounded by his family. Donald was born in Picerno, Province of Potenza Italy on September 29, 1944, to the late Nicola and Maria (Caiata) Faraone. He lived in New Britain since 1963.  He was an extremely hard worker who took pride in his work. Donald was the owner and operator of Getty College Service Station on Stanley Street in New Britain for many years. He also worked at Stanley Works and retired as a custodian of CCSU. Donald is survived by his beloved wife Rosa (Ragozzino) Faraone of almost forty years.

Donald was an avid gardener who especially loved his tomato plants. Nothing brought him greater joy, then to grow and share from his garden with everyone. He particularly enjoyed his wife’s cooking, and proudly complimented his love of her cooking to all. He was generous with his time, always willing to help others. He especially enjoyed long conversations with the company of his family and friends. His loved ones will always remember him at his happiest in the garden, or dancing the Tarantella.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his siblings, Carmine Faraone, Antonietta Potenza, Rockie (Albert) Aldi, Joe (Dee) Faraone, Rosalie Levanduski, and his brother-in-law Victor Paradis. He is also survived by his in laws, Irma (Antonio Parillo) Ragozzino of Italy, Maria (Enrico) DelGreco, Angela (Corrado) Rizza, Tina (Mark) Kelly, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.

He is predeceased by his sister Vita Paradis, sister-in-law Sharon Faraone, brother-in-laws Michael Levanduski and Vito Potenza.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 24, 2023, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church 544 Main St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery 1141 Stanley St. New Britain. Calling hours will be on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
