Maryjayne Wierbicki 79 of New Britain beloved Wife,Mother, Grandmother, and friend died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday May 18 2023.

Maryjayne was born on May 24th to late Ann and Edward Bruce. A lifelong resident of New Britain CT, she graduated from NBHS in 1961 and loved to reminisce of the towns “ glory days”.  She worked for many years in bookkeeping and enjoyed the camaraderie of friend while waitressing at night. She was active in Junior Women’s club, the New Britain Repertory theater and Ancient Order of Hibernians for many years.  She also volunteered her time by teaching children to recognize handicap children as equal by using puppets through Kids on the block.

Maryjayne never met a stranger and gift to gab was undeniable to her.  She loved a good bargain,had a appreciation for fine antiques, live theater, and enjoyed spending summers at the beach house in Rhode Island.  Her faithful cat campions ladyjayne and midnight brought her a special joy.

Maryjayne is survived by her brother Edward Bruce( Gloria) her brother-in-law Peter Spano,  her sons Glenn Wierbicki and Steven Wierbicki (Cathy) her daughter Kimberly Knox(Jim), grandchildren Joseph, Hillary,G.T., Steven Jr., Lindsey and Tristan Wierbicki, and great granddaughter Alana Osborn.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49years Michael Wierbicki aka Butch and her sister Nancy Spano.

Funeral services for Maryjayne will be held Friday (May 26) starting at 9AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Divine Providence Parish (St. Joseph Church) 195 So. Main Street New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street. Visitation will be held Thurs (May 25) from 5:00 – 7:00PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to CT Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
