Obituary of Catherine A. Salka

Catherine (Coffey) Salka, formerly of New Britain, passed away March 10th, 2023 surrounded by her family in New Britain. Born and raised in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Narusevich) Coffey. 

Katie was a banker for many years at Fleet Bank and then later Bank of America. She was an active and beloved member of St. Andrews Church where she was a member of the rosary society, the  parish council and  she served as a trustee for several years. She had a sense of adventure and loved to travel.  She took many trips with the church, including the Holy Land, Lithuania, and Rome. 

She was predeceased by her sister Ann E.  Hall.  Catherine is survived by her son Jeffrey and his wife Celeste, two granddaughters, Abigail and Olivia, one sister Sr. Margaret Phillip, and a brother Stephen P. Coffey, Jr.: along with several nieces.

Visitation will be held Wednesday (March 15) at 9:30AM to 10:30 AM at Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00AM at St. Jerome’s Church, 1010 Slater Rd, New Britain Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.

In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Parish of St. Francis of Assisi, New Britain.
