Obituary of Linda E. Greco

Linda E. Greco (DeGroff), 85, of Berlin died on February 28, 2023, one day shy of her 86th birthday. Linda was born on March 1, 1937, in Middlesex Memorial Hospital and was the daughter of Harold and Lucy DeGroff. Linda was raised in Cromwell and attended Middletown High School where she participated as a cheerleader as well as the chairperson of several clubs before graduating in June of 1954. In the pursuit of her life-long dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer, Linda attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA for 2 years before returning to Connecticut to enroll in the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing. Linda graduated as a Registered Nurse in June of 1959 and immediately began work at Hartford Hospital putting the needs of others before her own to aide those with afflictions small and large.

On November 21, 1959, Linda wed her only true love, Angelo Greco, also from Cromwell. Linda and Angelo began their lives together in Waterford, CT but moved to Berlin in 1962 when Angelo began teaching music in the New Britain school system. They were married for 54 years before Angelo passed in March of 2014. Linda and Angelo enjoyed travelling internationally, walking the numerous dogs they had adopted over the years, (Penny, Heidi, Woton, Noxi and Kitaro), and entertaining with friends. Linda was a highly skilled baker specializing in custom themed birthday cakes which were works of art. She also took tremendous pride in her homes and could regularly be seen on the roof cleaning windows and even repairing the chimney.

Linda is predeceased by her husband Angelo and her daughter Linda V. Greco. She leaves her beloved son and daughter-in-law, Andre and Pam Greco of Lebanon, CT and 4 grandchildren, Kelsey (husband Michael Hussey), Anthony, Devin and Nicholas.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the clinical team at Douglas Manor in Windham for the care and compassion they showed to Linda during her last few weeks.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, a private ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, Linda asked that donations be made to the Connecticut Humane Society 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT  06111.
