Robert J. Corriveau Obituary

Robert J. Corriveau passed away peacefully on February 16th surrounded by family.  He was born on January 12th, 1933 in Claire New Brunswick, Canada.  Bob was one of eleven children born to Alfred and Edith (Cyr).


 Bob served as a Corporal in the US Army; as well as an interpreter in Germany.  After his service he settled in New Britain, CT where he met and married the love of his life, Jeannine Gorneau, in 1957.


He is survived by his wife Jeannine, as well as by his children and their spouses:  Dale and Tammy of Plainville, Brenda and Walt Perun of East Hampton, and Debra and Mark Szafran of New Hartford; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson.  He is also survived by three sisters:  Rolande Nadeau, Muriel Caron, and Cecile Chamberlain.  He is predeceased by his son Donald.


Robert was a small business owner of Superb Drywall until he retired.  He was actively involved with and held various leadership positions including National Commander of the Franco-American War Veterans and as President of the French Businessmen Association.  Bob was a proud man who loved his family unconditionally; loved his many friends; and had a passion for reading and talking about history. 


He will be greatly missed. 


Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday (Feb. 21, 2022) at 10:00 AM at Divine Providence Parish (St. Peter Church) 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, 580 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the French Businessman’s Association (for scholarships) PO Box 1595 Bristol, CT 06010.
