Obituary of Robert A. Montana

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert A. Montana (Bob, “Monti”), 89, of Berlin, died Wednesday (Jan. 25, 2023) at Apple Rehab in Cromwell.  Born in New Britain, the son of the late Peter and Caroline (DellaNave) Montana, he lived in Berlin for over 50 years. He is now reunited with his wife of over 60 years, Carol (Cook) Montana, who died May 2, 2022. He served his country  in the US Army.

Bob was a hard worker who supported his family working in the retail industry. He enjoyed travelling, Broadway musicals, and the music and acting of Barbra Streisand. He taught his children time honored dad lessons on the importance of getting to the airport on time (“You can wait for the plane, the plane can’t wait for you!”) and being financially responsible (“What do you need that for?”).

Bob was a loving and devoted husband and father, and his greatest joy was being a grandfather. His eyes lit up at the mention of his grandchildren.

Bob is survived by two daughters, Lisa, and her husband Walter Deptula Jr., of South Carolina, Lori Kendrick and her partner, Sousa Williams; and three grandchildren, Paul, Caroline, and Courtney Kendrick. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his infant son Craig, and son-in-law, Marshall Kendrick.

The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab Cromwell for the care they provided. Bob would make frequent rounds at the facility, smiling and waving at everyone he crossed paths with.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday (Jan 30) at 11:30 AM at St. Paul’s Church, 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will be at a future date.
