Obituary of Bertha Lagassey
Bertha (Betty) Lagassey, 98, of New Britain, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on January 14, 2023. She was the devoted wife of her husband, Phillip for 54 years, before his passing in 2002.
She was born in Black Lake, Canada, daughter of Amedee Ferland and Ida (Turcotte) Ferland. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Marcel Ferland and her daughter-in-law Sandra Lagassey. While Betty had a variety of employment throughout her life her primary focus was being a homemaker and supporting wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was proud to be a 41 year breast cancer survivor and enjoyed all the years that she was a participant in the annual Race for The Cure in Walnut Hill Park.
Betty is survived by two loving and thankful sons and their families, David and Richard, four grandchildren, Keith, Jeffrey, Christopher and Kevin, nine precious great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, her longtime friend Omerthea Larochelle and finally, her always present and constant companion “Monty”.
Visitors may pay their respects on Thursday January 19th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT followed by a short service. Burial will immediately follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
