Obituary of Gerard J. Probulis

Gerard J. “Gerry” Probulis, 83, of Vernon, died Thursday (Jan. 12, 2023) at Rockville Hospital. Born in New Britain, the son of the late John J. Probulis, Jr. and Thecla (Roth) Probulis, he lived most of his life in New Britain, and moved to Vernon.  He had been employed in the Financial Analyst at Pratt & Whitney for 40 years. He is a U.S. Navy Veteran and is a Permanent Deacon serving at St. Mary’s Church New Britain and served as a Minister of The Eucharist at John Dempsey (UConn) Hospital.

Gerry is survived by his wife Barbara (Katzbeck) Probulis; three sons Thomas and his wife Nadia Probulis of Hebron, and their children William, Sonia, Sabrina and Angelique, Russell Probulis of West Hartford, Ronald Probulis and his partner Ronda of Panama City, FL and their children Thomas, Joshua, Nevaeh, Faithlyn, and Stevie;  three great granddaughters Lilli, Angie and Gemma; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Probulis.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday (January 20) at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church, 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial with Military Honors will follow in State Veteran Cemetery, 317 Bow Ln. Middletown. Visitation will be held Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to House of Bread 27 Chestnut St. Hartford, CT 06120.
