Rose Marie Selander Obituary

Rose Marie (Shea) Selander was called home on the evening of January 6, 2023. . Born in New Britain in 1938 to John and Pauline Shea, she attended Roosevelt Junior High School and New Britain High School. She was employed as a secretary for the Traveler’s Insurance Company. She married Howard Selander in 1961 and had three children. She devoted her life to her children, playing a key role in the PTA, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts.


She worked as a paraprofessional at Smith Elementary School. She received her AA degree from Tunxis Community College in 1982 and used her counseling degree in numerous ways. She was employed by CCARC in the group home setting. She was active in the St. Joseph Rosary Guild for a number of years. She received the St. Joseph Archdiocese Medal of Appreciation in 2017.


She is survived by her three children, Lori-Ann (Daniel) Foley, Kathy Augeri, and Michael Selander and six grandchildren.


A celebration of life Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday (March 11, 2023) at St. Joseph’s Church 195 So. Main St. New Britain. Entombment will be held Monday (March 13, 2023) at 10:00AM at State Veteran Cemetery (Columbarium), 317 Bow Ln, Middletown CT with her husband Howard.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church in her name.
