Barbara (Penson) Hackett, 87, of New Britain, died Monday (Dec. 19, 2022)   at the Hartford Hospital. Born in Boston, the daughter of the late James and Sophia (Stepeck) Penson, she lived most of her life in New Britain. She was the wife of the late Russell J. Hackett, who died Aug. 15, 2000. Employed at New Britain General Hospital (now The Hospital of Central Connecticut) in the Admitting Department,  she was also a long time parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in New Britain and the Ladies Guild of St. John’s.

Barbara is survived by two daughters Maryellen Hackett and Susan Hackett, both of New Britain, a sister Claire and her husband, Rocco Albano, two nieces and a nephew.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2022) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Church, 485 Alling Street Berlin. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Weds from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
