Obituary of Bertha Brown
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of the Brown Matriarch, Bertha Brown.
Bertha Domblauskas Brown lived to the amazing age of 102. She passed peacefully at her residence at the Jerome Home in New Britain, CT on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 surrounded by her family and the caregivers that loved her. Bertha was born October 9, 1920 to Lithuanian immigrants Catherine and Peter Domblauskas in New Britain, CT.
She was a graduate of New Britain High and married the love of her life, Frank A. Brown, in April 1942. She will be remembered for her gentle kindness to all she knew. Her family was her life: Often sacrificing her needs for ours. As a mother to six children and nineteen grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, she lived a selfless and caring life. She nurtured all, with steadiness and moral strength. Children brought her a special joy, and she was wonderfully gifted to provide comfort and unconditional love to those she cared for. She extended these gifts to the community. She was quietly generous, volunteering for the Salvation Army, friendship center, cleaning and preparing linens for the alter of St Francis of Assisi, along with countless other contributions that provided comfort for those who most needed it.
We were blessed to have her with us for 102 years, living through some of the hardest times our country has faced. The great depression, the second World War, she was able to guide us all to focus on what was important. Faith, family, and love.
Bertha is survived by her sister Ann Noreika, five children, Dennis Brown, Francine Guzzardi and husband Paul, Elizabeth Parsons and husband Robert, Gregory Brown and wife Honor, and Mary Haggerty and husband James. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Diana, Denise, Marc, Erin, Kyle, Sarah, Lee, and Allison, and eleven great-grandchildren. Bertha was predeceased by her husband Frank, sister Julie, and daughter Katherine.
Funeral services will be held Saturday (Dec. 10, 2022) 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bertha’s favorite charity, the Salvation Army 78 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
The family would like to extend its heartful appreciation for the all of the wonderfully supportive staff at the Jerome Home.
