Obituary of Mary Ann Gobar

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary Ann Gobar was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother during her incredible 93 years of life. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 13, 2021, surrounded by those who loved her. A graduate of New Britain High School, Mary spent most of her life in central Connecticut, but began her career supporting U.S. Army members and their families at Camp Pickett in Virginia. Her empathy for and desire to support others was shown throughout her life, working as lunch aid for Holmes School in New Britain, followed by over two decades at Sage-Allen at the West Farms Mall as well as with her niece Donna at Medical Claims Unlimited. Her proudest accomplishment, however, is the beautiful family that she and her husband Fran built together. Their love story, which began after a chance meeting at a roller-skating rink, spanned over 73 years and included an innumerable number of special memories and shared experiences. Mary’s unwavering love of and devotion to her family was evident in the immense joy that they filled her with. Her warm spirit and zest for life can be seen in each and every one of them and those who knew and loved her will miss the affection she brought to each of their lives. In addition to her husband Fran, Mary leaves behind her daughter Debbie Branigan, son John Gobar and his wife Karen, grandson JB Branigan and his wife Sarah, granddaughter Nicole Colon and her husband Mark, and great-grand children Aria, Austin and Emerlee. She also leaves a large extended family. Mary was predeceased by her sisters Lee, Dora and her brother Fred, who was her steadfast companion before his death and held a particularly special place in her heart. The family wants to extend special thanks to all those who cared for Mary, especially Maria Kulig, who she came to love dearly. Funeral services will be held Saturday (Nov. 20, 2021) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Salvation Army, 78 Franklin Square, New Britain, CT 06051.
