Obituary of Loretta Callahan Campbell

Please share a memory of Loretta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Loretta Callahan Campbell of Kensington, CT passed away peacefully with family by her side on July 27th, 2021. She was born on October 4, 1930 in New Britain, CT, daughter of the late Donald and Mary (Orsie) Callahan. Loretta was a graduate of New Britain High School and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Fife and Drum Core. She worked for W. L. Hatch Co. before marriage and after raising her children, returned to work at Ravizza Brothers. While raising her young family, she thoroughly enjoyed the musicals she was involved with as a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Dance Troup. Besides volunteering in the library at St. Paul’s Junior High School, she was an avid league bowler, golf member of the Timberlin Lady Niners, card player, movie goer and devoted UConn Men’s Basketball/Football fan. Many memorable summers were spent at Cape Cod with her family. She will always be remembered for her delicious homemade meatballs and spaghetti sauce, beautifully decorated homemade family birthday cakes, her impeccable housekeeping, as well as being her children’s biggest fan attending all their activities and lastly, for all those who knew her well, will never forget her wonderful, resounding, hearty laugh. Nothing matter more to Loretta than her tremendous love of family and faith. Her beloved husband and best friend, “Artie”, sadly passed away far too soon in 1987. She leaves behind four loving children, William Campbell of Simsbury, CT and his partner Dorothy McKeon, Kathleen Campbell of Cromwell, CT and her partner Brent Berti, Maureen Carlson of Kensington, CT and her husband Lennart and Thomas Campbell of DeBary, FL. In addition, she leaves seven grandchildren Ryan Tibbling and his wife Malissa, Daniel Carlson and his wife Laura, Andrew Carlson, Jacqueline Carlson, Chelsea Dunlevy and her husband Matthew, Kaitlyn Campbell and Courtney Campbell. Also, Loretta leaves behind three great granddaughters Peyton Dunlevy, Remi Carlson and Sienna Tibbling. Lastly, she also leaves sisters-in-law Lucy Callahan and Carol English and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her younger sister Marianne Bolles and her Irish twin brother John Callahan. She was also predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Williams's wife, Laurie Porter Campbell.
