Obituary of Steven J. Ludwikow
Please share a memory of Steven to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Steve Ludwikow 66, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 7, 2021. Born in New Britain on April 28, 1955 to the late Walter and Marianne Ludwikow. Steve lived in New Britain most of his life, and was a graduate of New Britain High School and Central CT State College. He then drove cross country to Alaska and returned when he was accepted to Suffolk University Law School, and opened his law practice in his home in New Britain.
He was a past Exalted Ruler of the New Britain Elks Club #957 and a lector at Holy Apostle’s (St. John the Evangelist) church and served on the Finance committee for the church. While in high school and college, Steve was elected president of both senior classes. He coached many of his sons sports and loved his family and friends, holidays, trips to Ogunquit, Maine, Rhode Island and his walks in Walnut Hill Park with his “best friends” Echo and Ollie (and sharing with them his Twinkies and Animal Crackers).
He will be deeply missed by all, but mostly by his beloved wife Pat and his dear son Steven. He also leaves behind his dear sister Maria Kaczynski and her husband Alex, his nieces Karen and Frank McLaughlin, Kristen Ludwikow and their children, Kayla and Meagan McLaughlin and Peter Ludwikow. He also leaves his brother in law Bill Woodward and his wife Linda, and sister in law Jackie Dawson and Emily and Michael Dawson. He was predeceased by his brother Peter Ludwikow.
Steve had the biggest heart and would help anyone in need. He was so well versed in every subject and a wiz at “Jeopardy!” but would tell you “he was a wealth of useless information!” Such was his dry sense of humor. He has so many lifelong friends that he cherished. Please remember all the good times you shared with him as that is what he would want. We will forever be singing Pink Floyd’s “Wish you were here”. We will miss you forever and thank you for sharing your life with us.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Apostles Parish (St. John the Evangelist Church) 655 East Street, New Britain on Friday (May 14th) at 10:00am. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Apostle’s Church or the CT Humane Society 701 Russell Rd. Newington, CT 06111.
