Helen (Rutkauskas) Rollins, 93, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at the Hospital of Central Connecticut on Wednesday, April 7th. She was the cherished wife of Russell Rollins of 53 years before his passing in April 2005. Helen was born on March 12, 1928 and was a lifelong New Britain resident graduating from New Britain High School in 1946. She and Russ successfully ran Bergomi Auto Body in New Britain for many years.
She was a proud member of the Berlin Garden Club and an active member of St. Andrew’s Church her entire life. A friend to all, she truly looked forward to “going for her coffee or her lunches with the girls”. Her favorite time was spent with her family, especially her two great grandchildren. She was extremely proud of the family she had built with Russ.
Helen is survived by her only child, her wonderful daughter, Dawn Dorsey and her husband Patrick whom she lived with for the past year and a half. She leaves two beloved grandchildren, Justin Dorsey of New Britain, and Erin (Dorsey) Filon and her husband Timothy of Bristol. The light of her life were her two great grandchildren, Shannon Elizabeth and Ryan Patrick Filon of Bristol. She is also survived by her special niece/Godchild, Christine Chernick of Newington, several nieces and nephews and a host of special friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents Martin and Anna Rutkauskas, her sister, Isabel Chernick and her brother, Frank Rutkauskas.
Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Monday, April 12th, at 10:00AM at St. Andrew Church, 396 Church Street, New Britain. Burial will be private in St. Mary's Cemetery.
