Jane Marie (Margelot) Hilbie, 88, died peacefully, March 7, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born in New Britain, where she lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel (Keeney) Margelot, Sr. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Hilbie. Jane started her career at Stanley then devoted her life to her family. She was also a crossing guard in New Britain for many years.

She was a Eucharistic Minister, a Religious Education teacher, president of the Ladies Guild and a regular Bingo volunteer. Jane’s favorite place was the cottage on the lake where she spent summers growing up with her brothers and cousins. Jane and Frank continued the summer tradition at the lake creating lasting memories with their children. “Nana” especially loved spending time with her grandchildren at the lake. Music was always an important part of her life beginning with Fife and Drum at St. Johns and at New Britain High School. She passed that love of music on to her family and always looked forward to the family concerts on Christmas Eve. Jane was always very active, an avid bowler and enjoyed a good card game.
