Francis J. Mercurio, 78, of New Britain, passed away on Saturday (Jan. 23, 2021). He was born in New Britain and attended local schools, graduating from New Britain High School in 1960. He retired from Allied Control and also worked at New Britain Machine. Francis (Frankie) was an avid reader and liked Word Search Puzzles . He played the accordion and organ and was also good at art and painted some beautiful portraits and landscapes. He was predeceased by his parents, Pellegrino and Frances, two brothers, John and Charles, two sisters, Rose Maccotta and Lois Siderowf and a nephew, James. Frankie leaves his brother, P. Michael and his wife Joyce Mercurio, and a sister, Anne and her husband, Lawrence Zarotney , several cousins, nieces and a nephew. A graveside service will be held Saturday (Jan. 30, 2021) at 10:30 AM in St. Mary Cemetery (St. Peter Section) 1141 Stanley St. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Kidney Foundation 3000 Whitney Ave. #121 Hamden, CT 06518. The family would like to thank the staff at Apple Rehab, Cromwell for their compassionate care.
