Obituary of Lena M. Brown

Lena M. (Callegari) Brown, 89, of Berlin died Friday (Jan. 8, 2021) at home. Born and raised in New Britain, the daughter of the late Valentino and Pierina (Negro) Callegari, she resided in Berlin the last thirty years. She was the wife of the late William E. Brown, who died Sept. 11, 2019. She had been employed for many years as an executive secretary. While in New Britain, she was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of their Ladies Guild. After moving to Berlin, she joined St. Paul’s Church. She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Grace Callegari, with whom she shared a special bond. She also leaves several nieces and nephews, including those that surrounded and cared for her in her final few months, Thomas Callegari, Diane Callegari Funk, Lynne Kowalczyk, and Beth Kavy. In addition to her husband Bill, she was predeceased by her sister, Rena Kowalczyk and brother Alfred Callegari. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday (Jan.11, 2021) at 10:00 AM at St. Paul’s Church 485 Alling St. Berlin, CT. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Everyone is asked to wear masks and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church or to Hartford Healthcare Hospice 1290 Silas Deane Hwy Suite 4 B Wethersfield, CT 06109.
