With our deepest sympathy to Norma and the Harris family. Archie has been a wonderful and fun neighbor for 37 years. We will miss our chipmunk catching competitions, his cigarette breaks on the front steps which gave us the opportunity to chat daily, his comical, critiquing of our dog walking around our front yard, and his laughter as we shuffled cars in the driveway when our children were teens. Howard has enjoyed many very competitive golf matches with Archie over the years at Shuttle Meadow CC. There were quite a few club championship matches and Archie was always a tough competitor. The copper beach tree he planted on the third hole in memory of his brother is beautiful, but Howard says his golfball is overly attracted to it.
Thank you for the great memories Archie. Wishing everyone peace, Howard & Julie Dyson

To Norma and family.
There are so many "Archie" stories from the McEnaney and Magennis families. Wonderful memories of the picnics and life.
With my deepest sympathy and hugs,
Judy Friend

At ninety, I owe one third of my life to the generosity of the Harris Family; Archie both as employer and friend. Rough edges cannot hide kindness and concern.
A traditional man, my family was accepted and rewarded as well.
I see Archie organizing the inventory of heaven.
He never did share the secret of adding large columns of figures faster than any machine.
Peace my friend
My sincere condolences Norma and to the family.
With a heavy heart
Dolores

To the entire Harris family, I'd like to send my sincerest condolences on the passing of an awesome man. Growing up on the golf course at Shuttle Meadow I was fortunate to caddie for him many times. He was one of the people there that laid the foundation of how to be a gentleman on and off the course. He was a competitor that always wanted to play well and do it the right way.
On one occasion while caddying for him he hit an errant tee shot that went into the woods. Being the caddie that he had taught me to be, I was properly positioned down the fairway and easily found his ball. It was not in a good position. No swing at all. Right up against the base of a tree. As he approached, I proudly pointed out where the ball came to rest because I was just happy I had found it. He didn’t share the same joy. His words were something along the lines of “What’s it doing there?” The message was perfectly clear.
The next time he hit an errant shot, it may as well have been sitting on a tee with nothing between him and the green. As he looked over the shot he said, “now that’s not so bad”. My reply was, “you should have seen it before”. Hit them straight Mr. Harris!

My father, Bernard B. Walsh, Sr. worked for A.H.Harris for many years. He was always very fond of Archie and spoke highly of him on multiple occasions. When I, as a very young man, got to meet Archie, he was always very kind and considerate to me. I am sorry to hear of his passing.
