Obituary of Benedict Gagliardi

Benedict L. Gagliardi, Sr, passed away, Wednesday, after a lengthy illness at Bel Air Manor in Newington. Ben lived in the Berlin / Kensington area for 58 years, being Vice-President of Mellocrest Ice Cream Co. He was the youngest of seven children born to Rose and Nicholas Gagliardi on March 14, 1928. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean Conflict, he married Natalie Florio in which three beautiful sons were born. He leaves his loving sons, their wives and adoring grandchildren; Benedict, Jr. and his wife Eileen, their children Maggie and Benedict, III of Berlin; William, daughter Lindsey and his wife Kim of Canton; and Robert and girlfriend Corinne of East Haddam. Ben was predeceased by his sister, Angeline Pepe, brothers Carmine, Anthony, Frank, Joseph and David and many loving nieces and nephews. Ben was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Knights of Columbus, and was well known as an antique car buff and enjoyed playing cards. Funeral services will be held Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church Kensington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Visitation will be Monday from 9:00 A.M until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The George Bray Cancer Center at the Hospital of Central CT 100 Grand St. New Britain, CT 06051 or to Multiple Sclerosis 659 Tower Ave. Hartford, CT 06112, or to The American Diabetes Assoc. 306 Industrial Park Road # 105 Middletown, CT 06457.
