Obituary of Mary E. Spooner

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mary (Vose) Spooner, (96) died peacefully on Monday (July 16, 2018) at the home she lived in for 65 years surrounded by loving family.  She was born in Tewksbury, MA, the daughter of the late Frederick and Serena (McMullen) Vose. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. George Spooner and grandchildren Joshua Spooner Hendrick and Emily Spooner Mastrocola.

Mary set an example for her daughters of a life fully lived.  She was an artist, world traveler, tennis player and loyal volunteer at Planned Parenthood and the New Britain Museum of American Art.  For many years, Mary was active in faculty activities at CCSU where her husband was a professor.  She loved New Britain and referred to it as "the center of the universe".  Mary loved spending time with family and all kinds of adventures.

She is survived by her daughters, Amy Hendrick and husband Paul Blow, Joan Mastrocola, and Serena Cole and her husband Stephen Cole. Mary leaves her grandchildren: Chris Hendrick and his wife Heather,  Kaity Lewis and her husband Jared Lewis, Adam Mastrocola and his wife Jenn,  Seth Mastrocola, Jen Pottle, Nick Pottle, Samuel Morris and seven great grandchildren.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Hospice care and also to Eileen Houlihan, Mary's loving and devoted caregiver. Her caring presence allowed Mary to stay in the home she adored until the end of her life.
