Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

George L. Lombardo, 92, of New Britain passed away peacefully on August 13, 2017.

George was born in New Britain to George C. and Anna (Wohinz) Lombardo on December 16, 1924.  He served in the US Army during WWII.  He was the proud owner and operator of New Britain Wells, Inc. for most of his life, drilling water wells for homes and businesses across the state. George raced stock cars from the late 1940s through the mid 1960s.  During that span, he earned over 125 wins at Riverside Park, Waterford Speedbowl, West Haven Speedway, and several championships at Plainville Stadium.  George was honored to be inducted into the New England Antique Racers Hall of Fame in 2008.  As one of the few remaining people with detailed knowledge of automobiles from the 1920s-1960s, George loved to spend time with fellow car lovers at RaceWorks in Berlin.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Virginia and his children MaryAnn Lombardo, Donald Lombardo and his wife Janice, and Nancy Robertson and her husband Douglas. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Daniel Litke and Julia Lombardo.  He also leaves his brother Louis and his wife Christine, along with many family members, friends and neighbors.
