Keith,
I was so sorry to hear about your Mom. I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to see her a few times over the past year and though she may not have recognized me, I spoke to her then about how grateful I was to have had her as my first Director of Nursing at Farmington Convalescent Home. She may not have understood everything I was saying, but her smile and soft giggle as I spoke told me she was the same Mary Ellen...
Mary Ellen was a great DNS. She gave me an opportunity as a LPN in the 80's that turned out to send me down a new path that shaped the rest of my life. Because of her faith in me, I went on to obtain my RN in nursing and eventually became the Director of Nursing at Farmington Convalescent Home several years after Mary Ellen's retirement.
Mary Ellen touched my life, the lives of others who worked with her, and though it goes without saying, the lives of the patients she was charged to take care of...My condolences to you Keith and your family...My prayers and thoughts are with you all...
